We’re leaning into apples during the Weekly Menu 10.10.21 ~ autumn is in the air, hopefully!

The Weekly Menu 10.10.21 has apples for days – we’re using them Sunday night in both the salad and (kind-of) in dessert, plus they get a starring roll with their dear friend, the pork chop.

Fall produce, to me, starts with apples. I love them as a snack in the afternoon all crisp and tart. We also love them in the All-American Apple Pie. Always a plus is a little mix-up with some savory notes, like we’re doing on Tuesday.

Apples are so versatile!

Everyone around here likes apples, probably because we started them young. After school snacks were often sliced apples smeared with peanut butter, a crisp, sweet and creamy combo that is hard to beat.

Apples are a great dipper for appetizers too. Try Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Dip for a fun, sweet app. If you’re in the mood for apple pie but don’t want all the fuss, check out our Apple Galette, which uses store bought pizza dough (the tube kind!) for the base. The house will smell fab-u-las while it cooks!

We’re buying a big bag of apples – the Weekly Menu 10.10.21 includes a couple of my all time favorites. Salad doesn’t get any easier than Sunday. Our fave greens, cored and chopped Granny Smith apples, walnut halves and an apple cider vinaigrette. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect side for some burgers smothered in cheese?

Pork chops and applesauce are a classic combo for a reason.

Of course, we’re tweaking it a little bit – we’re using the pork cutlets (from the Pork Milanese Recipe) and sautéing onions and peeled apples in a little butter with salt, pepper and thyme until they’re soft but not mushy. Simple but delicious.

Back to Sunday – you might notice we’re having a Salted Caramel “Sauce” with the Apple Cider Donut cake. What’s that all about? Classic Ina Garten – we’re melting salted caramel ice cream and using that as a topper. It doesn’t get much easier (or more delicious) than that!
