Tangy Sweet French Chicken
Tangy Sweet Chicken Wows With Just 5 Easy Ingredients!
Tangy Sweet French Chicken is a super easy take on slow cooking.
I know I’m always waxing poetic about my crock-pot (affiliate links follow), but it’s just so handy that I can’t hep it. I love it all year long – during the summer so the kitchen doesn’t get overheated. It’s perfect during sport season so it’s ready when we are. And you can’t beat a warm nourishing meal when the weather starts cooling down.
The only problem? Sometimes the food coming out of the crock-pot can be a little… bland. Tangy Sweet French Chicken makes sure that is not the case. The zinger? Dressing.
Tangy Sweet French Chicken can be Catalina Chicken or Den Chicken too.
We used French Dressing, but Catalina Dressing would also work well. Here in Erieland, we’re lucky to have a local alternative in Den Dressing.
Den Dressing was the house dressing from a restaurant called, wait for it, The Den.
Any one of these bottled dressings will work.
They don’t even have to be expensive. I used the store brand for this recipe. (It was on sale at $.79 a bottle.)
Cut the chicken into reasonable serving sizes. Our 2 pounds of chicken was three enormous breasts. I halved each one to get 6 big pieces. Put the chicken in a sprayed crock-pot.
Layer the chicken with a little of the dressing and soy sauce between them.
Add the rest of the dressing and soy sauce. Pinch in pieces of the butter. And start the Tangy Sweet French Chicken on it’s way.
Cook for 3 – 4 hours on low. About 30 minutes before eating, remove the chicken from the slow cooker.
Mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water, and add to the pot. Add the remaining dressing too. Then put the chicken back in, put on the lid and let it cook for another 30 minutes or so on high to thicken up.
After 30 minutes…
Tangy Sweet French Chicken is awesome on rice. But it would do some egg noddles proud as well.
