WEEKLY MENU 12.15.19
A little planning makes our Weekly Menu 12.15.19 into the perfect spread of dinners, and lets you hit the grocery store once and only once.
Are you a mulled wine fan? It can be served warm or cold, although it’s most common warm. Add spices and sometimes raisins (there’s a mouthful you weren’t expecting) and warm it gently for a great drink. It’s a quintessentially winter drink with origins from way back.
Wine was first recorded as spiced and heated in Rome during the 2nd century.[3][4] The Romans travelled across Europe, conquering much of it and trading with the rest. The legions brought wine and viticulture with them up to the Rhine and Danube rivers and to the Scottish border, along with their recipes.[5]
It is commonly a combination of orange, lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel seed (or star anise), cloves, cardamom, and ginger.[10]

When Bert and I got married, we got some beautiful crystal coffee glasses (affiliate links follow – see disclaimer for details) . They’re perfect for hot chocolate and Irish coffee, plus they’re fun with mulled wine. Mulled wine would definitely put you in the mood for caroling. Aren’t I helpful?
Check out this Mulled Wine Recipe – it looks really good, and is, self purportedly, the best ever. It’s via Inspired Charm.
Weekly Menu 12.15.19 –
We often had breakfast for dinner when the boys were little, especially if Bert was traveling for business. There’s something about pancakes and sausage at night that makes it even more delicious!
We’re going with the same theory for Sunday dinner – we’re having an easy bacon and (runny) egg burger for the main. Maple Walnut Brie starts us off with warm gooey cheese sweetened up with a beautiful topping. I’ll whip up my classic, family favorite breakfast potato (more on that later) and silver dollar Zucchini Pancakes. Dessert is super simple Cinnamon Donut Holes – we use a sleeve of store-bought muffins to get that going – fast.
I love a theme meal.
The boysies are making their way home from college this week (YIPPEE!) so we’re having the best sandwiches ever: Crispy Chicken Club Sandwiches. If you get a chance, try this recipe – you won’t be sorry. Baby Boy is a sausage machine, so meaty Cajun Wedding Soup is the choice for Friday. This recipe is a little labor intensive (hello tiny meatballs) but totally worth it.
