WEEKLY MENU 11.26.23
We’re starting our Christmas present shopping during the Weekly Menu 11.26.23 but are skipping all things Black Friday~
The Weekly Menu 11.26.23 has plenty of low key meals to keep us out of the kitchen so we can concentrate on our lists. Of course the first list is one of who you actually have to present with a present. And I hope you don’t have anyone on that list that is, how shall we say, difficult to buy for. Sadly, I am not that lucky. (Affiliate links follow. See Disclaimer Page for details.)
I will be pouring over the (honestly) EPIC gift ideas list I put together for you, gentle reader. I hate going to the mall because the crowds are everywhere. Plus, I’d rather put together a list I can either fulfill while sitting happily on the couch in the living room having a nice cup of tea, or concentrating on the smaller local shops and businesses that thrive in beautiful Erieland. Suggestions abound in here:
50+ EPIC GIFT IDEAS
So who is the arch nemesis of my listing? Bert. I’m not sure whether he is insanely difficult to buy for or if he’s just a bad gift receiver. Or both. Of course, the opposite might be true. Perhaps, just maybe, I am an awful gift giver. Nah.
A couple years ago I got Bert the “BEST GIFT EVER” – a headlamp that he could wear while running in the dim evenings that we experience this time of the year. It was LED, rechargeable, waterproof and fully adjustable so it wouldn’t fall off. I figured it would keep him safe and surely visible.
The man literally guffawed when he opened it up.
Yeah. Hurt my heart a little bit. And yes, I get it, he would look absolutely ridiculous running through the streets wearing it. We didn’t return it. Eventually, Bert realized that it would be a perfect tool to use while grilling in the dark (in the privacy of our back yard where no one could see him in it). It is tremendously bright – blindingly so, which would have kept him so safe, but alas, no.
I got him a wallet for Christmas a few years ago, and it took him six months to actually switch into the new one. And then he left it in his car when he was out and about one Friday and it was stolen. His reaction? “At least I don’t have to use that ugly wallet anymore.”
Bert gets a new watch every few years~
But we’re heading (quickly) towards our 30th Wedding Anniversary (two weeks after Christmas is the big day) and I should probably save that idea as a just in case. The man wears very little jewelry, so it’s tough to surprise him with something really nice. Every Christmas season DOLD would say that he was getting my mom a ring. A boxing ring. Apparently stress abounds with every generation during the holiday season.
Weekly Menu 11.26.23
Fresh off our Thanksgiving gorge, we’re taking it easy to start out the Weekly Menu 11.26.23. I’m not setting the table for Sunday dinner – we’re making a couple of kinds of pizza and eating in front of the telly. I’ve only got ice cream listed on the menu for dessert, but we’ll be eating pies for days around here, and Sunday is no exception.
On Monday, we’re having Bert’s favorite chicken. Pops Crispy Chicken is an easy, healthier take on frozen chicken nuggies. The bags of potatoes in the pantry are full of little spuds that are the perfect fit for the CrissCross Potatoes that are designed to use up the stragglers, so that’s our side. Wednesday night is Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner. Another easy meal that takes a few minutes to put together and cooks while you’re doing something else. (Like shopping.)
We’re splurging on Thursday with a quick steak salad. Instead of having it with standard blue cheese dressing, we’re changing it up a little with Cheddar Cheese Dressing. Creamy and delish without the funky taste.
Classic Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Chicken Rice Soup are on the menu Friday. Mom made the best ever Chicken Salad, and never needed to write down the recipe because it’s so simple. Boiled, chopped chicken breasts (save the broth for the soup) is combined with chopped celery and mayo to taste. I think the secret is the heavy seasoning with salt and pepper all over the top of the bowl before it’s refrigerated. Of course she could tell if you were taste testing when she wasn’t looking if the pepper was disturbed. Not that I would ever.
