WEEKLY MENU 10.24.21
We’re getting ready for a fabulous Halloween Weekend during the Weekly Menu 10.24.21 ~ it’s scary, but not too scary!
As the month starts winding down, the Weekly Menu 10.24.21 is gearing up for one of the most entertaining holidays of the whole kid year.
Who doesn’t love Halloween?
Is there anything better than trying to scare the unscareable? I have a confession to make: I absolutely adore scaring the boys. And Bert. My seesters. Oh, okay, I’ll admit it, I’d scare a stranger on the street if I could get away with it. It’s just delicious.
That’s not the only reason I love Halloween though. I enjoy getting dressed up (usually as a witch, see below) almost as much as I like seeing what everyone ELSE is wearing. The Halloween parades in grade school were a particular favorite. Nobody looks as good in a costume as a kid.
All the boys adored Spiderman – I think someone went in this costume for 5 or 6 years running. (Affiliate links precede and follow. See Disclaimer Page for details.) I even had to buy backup costumes for when the originals started “running”. Don’t get me started on how bad that mask smelled when it was shoved up around their foreheads.
Halloween is a great time for a party too – it’s a most forgiving scenario: if anything goes wrong, blame it on the spirits! Our Screaming Good Halloween Party post has everything included for the best party ever, including a menu, easy and cheap decorations, and detailed timelines. Costumes optional!
2021 Is our year, Halloween!
As scary as Halloween is, the escalating price of food is even scarier. We’re going to try a cheap beef recipe on Sunday – it cooks low and slow, and (supposedly) tastes as great as prime rib. Sure, I have my doubts too, but we’re willing to give it a try. At least all the sides will be completely delish!
We’re having a fabulous spicy Asian dish on Thursday – it’s super easy, and although it won’t taste nearly as good as take out (and I doubt it’s faster, too) it works. Did you know they have sugar snap peas and snow pea pods in the freezer section at most grocery stores now? They’re almost as good as fresh, they’re WAY cheaper, and they’re already cleaned. Score!
