WEEKLY MENU 09.06.20
We’re closing this shipwreck of a summer during the Weekly Menu 09.06.20 – celebrating Labor Day and the unofficial end of the season.
Okay, okay. The summer wasn’t really a shipwreck – but it was… odd, for sure. The only good thing about it being over is that we’re chugging along towards the end of the year, and all that brings. (Helloooo – Covid vaccine, I’m calling you.)
Weekly Menu 09.06.20 has a boat!
Speaking of shipwrecks, how cool is the post pic? Find the boat in Inverness, California. It’s there because it’s rotting and pretty.
BEACHED ON A SANDBAR IN Inverness, California, the abandoned Point Reyes Boat would seem to be little more than a large piece of detritus littering an otherwise protected wetland, but don’t tell that to the droves of photographers that take advantage of its mouldering beauty.
Known as the Tomales Bay Shipwreck, the Inverness Shipwreck, or the S.S. Point Reyes, the tall fishing boat was once in danger of being removed, but it was local photographers who actually saved it. The vessel was originally dragged aground by the land’s previous owner who had intended to fix the ship up. However, like many fixer-upper projects, he never actually got around to the repairs, leaving the boat, which still bears the name, “Point Reyes,” to decay on the shore.
When the land was taken over by a wetlands restoration firm, the boat was an obvious target for removal. But thanks to the attention the local photographers and visitors gave the wreck, the company allowed it stay right where it was.

Labor Day Time!
This week also includes a glorious long Labor Day Weekend. Did you know that this is the latest Labor Day can be? The holiday is always the first Monday in September – September 7th is it, date wise. We’ve got awesome Menus for Labor Day Parties. Labor Day 2018 Menu and Labor Day 2019 Menu both show fun, different menus for the day. Honestly, though, we’re feeling tried and true Burgers and Tots, so that’s what we are cooking.
Our Blue Light Special on the Weekly Menu 08.30.20 inspired this one: the veal patty was delicious and it received comparisons to the good old days when chicken patties often hit the menu. They’re basically a really big chicken tender. And I’m fine with that. If you’d like to stay healthy, check out Bert’s favorite, oven “fried” chicken with Pop’s Crispy Chicken. We have it a lot though, so we’re going to the freezer section for an actual premade patty. Don’t tell the food police.
Burger King Inspo:
Pop the chicken patty on a toasted bun, top it with shredded lettuce and a little mayo, and you have my favorite Burger King Sammie: the Classic Chicken Sandwich. We might as well go all in.
Tequila!
Soak the Margarita Shrimp in the same marinade as our Margarita Pork Chops, but for considerably less time: we’ll let the shrimp languish in the fridge for 15 minute or so before we pop it on the grill. Otherwise, the marinade will start to cook the shrimp and it will give it an off texture. Spoiler alert: not all my people like shrimp, so I’ll marinate a couple chicken breasts (in a different bag) to be grilled too. Those can be marinaded for an hour or so.
