WEEKLY MENU 07.28.19

Screaming into August and the weeks are as busy as ever!

Weekly Menu 07.28.19 includes a huge birthday at our house: BERT!

Bert’s Birthday has always been easy for me to remember – it’s the same date as my parents anniversary! They’re celebrating in heaven, I’m sure. They were married for over fifty years before DOLD passed away. Both were excellent role models – and taught us how important it is to celebrate the important days.

Birthday Party!

Bert is… difficult to buy for. And we always go back on forth on the best dinner to celebrate his big day. (It’s not a big, big day: no milestones this year, thank god!) Should we plan on eating his favorites at home or should we head to one of his favorite restaurants? Mulberry Italian Ristorante in Buffalo has awesome Italian – we found it when it was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It’s none of those things, but we were thrilled to find it anyway.

Maybe we should head to Rennick Meat Market in Ashtabula, Ohio for one of the best steaks ever? A little road trip involved to either – but it’s summertime and Bert’s Birthday is on a Saturday.

Or should we go someplace where he gets a free meal? Decisions, decisions.

Bert won’t decide today, that’s for certain. So as of now, I’m planning on resurrecting a dinner that includes a bunch of his favorites: FATHER’S DAY 2019! Bonus: there’s a bunch of really good gift ideas on that post.

Bert orders his own cake from the bakery. Then we know it’s perfect.

And we always celebrate by decorating the dining room, regardless if we eat there or not. We decorate for all the birthdays, and all the important holidays – Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Halloween… you get the idea. It’s amazing what crepe paper streamers (affiliate links follow), party balloons, paper party decorations and party hats can do to make the whole house festive!

Weekly Menu 07.28.19 also includes a favorite meal for our oldest who will be home this week. I’ve said it before: Diner Food is a go to around here. Swedish Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans exemplify a good diner experience. We’re doing a bit of “dinering” for Sunday dinner too – Burgers, Fries and Shakes!
