Heatwave! Weekly Menu 07.21.19 will keep you out of a hot kitchen~

It’s early for the dog days of summer, but it looks like they’re here, so we’ll make the best of it. Beating the heat is easy here in Erieland – we literally have a Great Lake in the picture. Sometimes, though, the only way to get some water into the works is with water balloons (affiliate links follow) and squirt guns.

The only way to fill the balloons was at the hose. Fifty percent of the balloons wouldn’t make it off the faucet successfully, and tying those slippery buggers was tough but so worth it. Just about ready to pop was the ideal fill ratio for water balloons. We’d start out in an organized game – pairs tossing the balloons back and forth as they stepped a little farther apart each toss. It would quickly devolve into mayhem and screams of delight and irritation.

We’d head inside, dripping, and get sent back out just as quickly by Mom. Water balloons almost always ended with us sitting on lawn chairs in the back yard glaring at each other. Squirt guns usually started as stealth attacks and ended up with us running around the house shooting at each other but hitting everything else. Poor Mom (who had often gifted us these squirt guns in our Easter Baskets) was forced to confiscate them. She occasionally used them stealthily when we weren’t looking.

We were always cooling off one way or another!

Don’t even get me started on the water cannons you can get these days. So awesome!

The Weekly Menu 07.21.19 will keep you out of the kitchen as much as possible between grilling and crock pot dinners. It’s been a busy graduation party season around here – and thank god for it! There’s nothing better than someone else hosting a good old fashioned party with yummy food. We’re looking forward to one of those on Saturday, so we’re thinking Pizza later to round out the day. Why, Hello Little Caesar’s!
