WEEKLY MENU 04.17.22
Wooeee we have some celebrating to do during the Weekly Menu 04.17.22~
The soundtrack of the Weekly Menu 04.17.22 should pretty much go like this:
What are we celebrating during the Weekly Menu 04.17.22? Easter starts it off on Sunday (of course) then we move right into the OG Baby Boy’s Birthday on Monday. And the Betwixt & Between Baby Boy (aka “D”) has a birthday on Wednesday. Yippee!
Bert’s sister has a birthday on Sunday, and my brother has a birthday on Monday too. I’m always surprised that so many of the birthdays in our family stack up. There are 366 days to pick from, after all.
- My Mom, her Dad and her brother shared a birthday.
- My brother shares a birthday with the OG Baby Boy.
- Baby Boy and our nephew share a birthday.
- Another of my brothers shares a birthday with our niece.
Pretty weird, huh?
It probably won’t surprise you, but the celebrations all revolve around food. If the boysies were celebrating on any week other than Easter Week, we’d probably skip dessert for Sunday dinner. But we absolutely can’t skip Carrot Cake on Easter Sunday. And we need to make the OG Baby Boy’s fave dessert on Monday. The Tollhouse Cookie Cake for D is a must have on Wednesday. A little decadent? Of course. But that’s how we Birthday.
Good news: all the cakes freeze.
Which is why we occasionally have a “Surprise Cake” on the menu. (Affiliate links follow – see Disclaimer Page for details.) I’m not very good at labeling the frozen goods, but I am pretty good at wrapping them up: plastic wrap first, then a nice tight cover with aluminum foil.
Wondering about favorite meals?
Birthday Boys pick their meals. The OG Baby Boy would normally pick Italian (probably chicken parm), but is deferring to his little brother, since Italian every other day may be overkill. Maybe.
Back in the day the boys used to have contests to see who could eat the most Twice Baked Potatoes, (and the OG Baby Boy usually won) so those made the cut. Everyone loves a nice crock of French Onion Soup, fully smothered in gruyere, of course. If we weren’t having the soup, we’d add in Scalloped Onions. They make a spectacular side to beef. Too many onions could be problematic though.
Italian night starts with Baked Fontina. More cheese is always a winner. Chicken Fra Diavolo has always been D’s most favorite meal. We’ll have to see how spicy we feel come Wednesday. Of course a nice side salad will round out this meal.
Leftovers for Friday, after a big salad dinner to get us back on track. I’m calling for Drunken Noodles on Saturday, but we’ll probably get Pizza or something similar. Mama will be pooped from all that cooking!
