WEEKLY MENU 03.29.20
Sticking around the house doesn’t have to mean boring dinners – as our Weekly Menu 03.29.20 proves!
In my experience, little boys really, really dig Legos. For many Christmases and birthdays, the ubiquitous Lego set was at the top of the wish list for our oldest. They kept all the boys entertained for HOURS. One of them, who shall remain nameless (ahem, CJK) even got a set this past Christmas. It was a combo Lego and radio controlled vehicle. Nice, huh? (Affiliate links follow – see disclaimer page for details.)
Two problems with Legos?
How does such a little piece of plastic command such a high price? Some of the biggest sets were simply out of our reach financially. And I could never figure out who was buying the sets that were three – four even five hundred dollars a piece. Crazy.
The bigger problem? Anyone that has ever inadvertently stepped on or knelt on one can attest: these buggers KILL! It still makes me shudder.
Now’s the time to get the sets back out – anything to get us off our screens. Uno works too, but can get a little cutthroat around here.
Weekly Menu 03.29.20
What are we eating while we’re dodging Legos? We’re starting out the week with a requested Italian meal – Chicken Parmesan. It’s a classic for a reason! I love bucatini pasta – if you’re going to eat pasta, it should be thick and tough to keep on your fork. Bert’s favorite Italian Cream Cake is up again – it really will last all week.
On Tuesday, we’re mashing up a classic American dog with a spicy pepper and onion mixture for our Tex-Mex Dogs. With any luck, we can press Bert into grilling them – he’s not known as a grill master for nothing.
We have a recipe for a slightly highbrow Sloppy Joe, and a fun Sloppy Joe Sliders (kids love them!), but we’re going standard old school this week. Lent continues on (even though we can’t get to church) with the best fish I’ve ever made. The Crispy Fish is super easy too – although it is a bit of a mess. The fish is battered and coated. Unbelievably delish.
