Maple Walnut Baked Brie
Maple Walnut Baked Brie: How to Steal the Show!
Maple Walnut Baked Brie is ridiculously easy while being super elegant and fun to eat. This appetizer takes less than 30 minutes and five ingredients to make – plus, you can serve it to anyone!
Brie (/briː/; French: [bʁi]) is a soft cow’s-milk cheese named after Brie, the French region from which it originated (roughly corresponding to the modern département of Seine-et-Marne). It is pale in color with a slight grayish tinge under a rind of white mould. The rind is typically eaten, with its flavor depending largely upon the ingredients used and its manufacturing environment. It is similar to Camembert, which is native to a different region of France.

So, here’s the thing. You can eat the rind. We just don’t like it. Plus, with the top cut off, the cheese melts better and the topping makes it’s way into the cheese. Numma Numma. Slightly sweet walnuts swimming in an oozy sea of perfectly melted cheese.
Cut off just the very top of the cheese with a sharp paring knife (affiliate link), trying to leave as much of the cheese as you can.
Place the cheese on a parchment lined baking sheet, and cook for about 14 – 16 minutes, until the cheese bubbles or bows, showing it is cooked through.
Meanwhile, put all the other ingredients in a small saucepan and heat over medium high heat.
We like the slight heat of the red pepper flakes, but if you don’t? Leave them out.
The walnuts are ready when the liquid has bubbled down, about 6 to 8 minutes.
Plate the cheese and mound the walnut mixture on top. I like to use a cheese board (affiliate link) for this that I’ve lined with some leaves or herbs, but it looks pretty cooked and served in a cast iron skillet (affiliate link) too.
We like this served with whole wheat crackers, but it’s delish with slices of soft, crusty french bread or fruit: apples and pears are excellent.
