We’re going PINK during the Weekly Menu 07.30.23~
Why are we pink themed for the Weekly Menu 07.30.23? It’s all Barbie, baby. The singular reason that I was sad about three boys was the fact that we wouldn’t get to indulge in baby girl clothes. And pink toddler clothes. And pink glitter. As you might imagine, there isn’t a great deal of pink in our home. Sure, it’s kind of fun being the only pink wearer in the house, and knowing at a glance who’s nail polish is who’s. (Affiliate links follow. See Disclaimer Page for Details.)
Don’t even get me started on the girl toys – especially Barbie. I adored playing Barbies. One birthday I requested and received solely Barbie paraphernalia. I got a pop-up camper and a boat. It was glorious. Of course, one Christmas many years later my baby seester got the Barbie Dream House (with a working elevator) and I had to put on the stickers.

Current Dreamhouse has wheelchair accessible elevators.

The toys that our boys played with were more action – with a very healthy amount of Spider Man sprinkled in. Growing up, my brothers didn’t do too much with action figures, which bummed me out, because I would have preferred G.I. Joe to Ken – G.I. Joe had articulating hands, which I’m sure Barbie preferred. He wasn’t nearly the dud that Ken was. Unfortunately, now GI Joe is teeny – not a match for Babs at all.
Of course there’s plenty of pink kitchen stuff too.

Although I honestly wouldn’t recommend any other color than the white KitchenAid Mixer. This is a life decision – these babies last forever. The obsession with the pink kitchen might not.
WEEKLY MENU 07.30.23
I’m using our white KitchenAid Mixer (that I’ve had for almost 30 years) to make Pink Sugar Cookies as dessert for our Sunday Pink Dinner. We’re starting with some Pink Lemonade and Sweet & Spicy Popcorn in our homage to all things Barbie. We’re having burgers (with nary a smidge of pink, most likely) and a Watermelon Feta Salad to stay in theme. There isn’t much appealing savory food that I could find. Pepto Bismal pink doesn’t lend itself to main courses, IMHO. All the pink food on Pinterest looks slightly poisonous.
We’ve got the crockpot going on Monday and Wednesday. Ours doesn’t look like this first one. We have the second one, sadly.
It’s Bert’s Birthday on Thursday. Yippee!!!!
If we stay home (which is unlikely) we’ll have on of his faves – Pops Crispy Chicken. It’s even named for him! I’ll go all out and order his cake though. His absolute favorite thing on his birthday is a Bakery Birthday Cake. I can handle that!
