WEEKLY MENU 12.11.22
More Christmas prep during the Weekly Menu 12.11.22 ~ It’s Christmas Card time!
We’re probably pushing it, sending out Christmas Cards during the Weekly Menu 12.11.22, because it is surely bumping up against the Postal Services guidelines. But, needs must, and the cards just arrived. Now starts the seriously arduous but awesome task of going through the list and getting them ready to mail. We do send a fair amount of them, but we get a fair amount too. I’m not sure (but I suspect) the two are related.
And I absolutely adore receiving Christmas Cards.
So it’s a fair trade. I’m really not picky about the type of Christmas Cards we get. Religious is always appreciated. Funny cards make us smile, as intended, and the Christmas Newsletter makes me think we should do that some year. But of course we don’t. We do keep one type of card. We have a box in the basement full of photo-cards. What are we going to do with them? I have absolutely no idea. I just can’t throw away these wonderful snippets of peoples lives. It’s so much fun to see the progression of the families, too! Want to see ours?
Isn’t seeing them all grown up amazing?
Which type of card will we send this year? We had no photos AT ALL of the five of us. And only a few with three or four of us. Baby boy is away at school, and unless I learned how to photoshop him in, (which I did not) we weren’t getting a family picture in time for Christmas. I made the executive decision that we were going with a classic holiday card this year, sans photo. I justified it in my head with the fact that we’re just getting too old for the picture cards. But then we got a couple of cards with people on it even older than our people, gasp, so we’re heading back to that next year. I already miss them, because our own cards make me smile. Big.
What’s for eats during the Weekly Menu 12.11.22?
Well, let me tell you. It’s full of super easy meals because the calendar shows us going every which way. Sunday dinner has us using up the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers. Don’t panic. It’s not the turkey. I’m going old school and simple with swiss cheese slices melted on saltine crackers. Then they get a dribble of cranberry sauce. (Which is the only leftover we still have.)
We’ve got the sheet pans out (Affiliate links precede and follow – see Disclaimer Page for Details) and the crockpot is in play. Which reminds me that I’ve been meaning to order a replacement slow cooker for the one Baby Boy took back to school. I didn’t put it on my Christmas List for obvious reasons. That’s almost as bad as getting a vacuum cleaner. Which Bert has never done – he’s a wonderful gift giver, and understands the rules.
D is thrilled with our dinner on Thursday. Chicken Fra Diavolo is a family favorite for sure, but more than that, it’s his go-to dinner. We just call it Chicken Fra around here, we have it so much. I’m mixing it up with spaghetti in place of rigatoni. I hope D doesn’t complain. There’s no way he won’t notice.
