What’s the best thing to do when you’re cozying up to a fire during the Weekly Menu 02.27.22? Read eerie stories, of course!

We often watch the Pittsburgh Penguins while munching our way through the Weekly Menu 02.27.22. When they’re on. During the pandemic, the biggest adjustment around here was the lack of background noise in the evening. But we found a most excellent substitute for hockey: Bigfoot Hunting.

You read that right.

Did you know there is not just one series devoted, entirely, to locating the elusive creature? There are at least three that Bert and I have watched, completely ignoring the disgust of our boys. Expedition Bigfoot (our favorite), Bigfoot in America and Finding Bigfoot are all “must see TV” around here. Well, for two of us.

There is a law, apparently, that the only time one can hunt for Bigfoot is during the darkest hours of the night. So everyone is illuminated in pretty green light while they bang their sticks and try to out-yell each other. It’s riveting. Luckily, if you are busy doing something else (like playing a game on your phone) they will replay anything that is even remotely tempting. Again and again.

My love of Bigfoot lore goes way back.

My little sister took the subject to heart in sixth grade when working on a research paper. She even wrote to the North American Bigfoot Center in Oregon requesting more research materials. Boy, did they come through! The paper not only got K an “A”, I was able to present it during a high school speech class, where I also garnered an A. Please don’t alert the nuns that I had some help with that one.

Bert and I took an “Eerie Erie” walking tour back a few years, and, of course, there have been Bigfoot sightings on our very own Presque Isle. What’s interesting about these sightings (in addition to the fact that there have been ANY at all) is that they are often seen in tandem with UFO glimpses.

How interesting is that?

Come on. It’s kind of interesting. And, if Bigfoot is hopping off a super quiet, round craft, being seen and then hopping back on, it would explain why the erstwhile BF Hunters aren’t able to locate him/her. Bigfoot has, literally, disappeared into space.

Of course there is a local that has seen fit to write all about it. (Affiliate links follow. See Disclaimer Page for details.)

There is no shortage of Bigfoot paraphernalia.

Bert loves his sleep jammies he got for Christmas.

I would recommend NOT installing this in the Pacific Northwest.

Watch Party time?

And of course, garden decor. (Errr, Bathroom?)

So, I’m reading Eerie Erie in the evenings, now that the Penguins are back on TV. (If you’re thinking about ordering this book, get a move on. There are only ten copies left in stock. Of course, there were eleven copies left during the two weeks the book languished in my shopping cart.)

What’s for eats?

Sunday is a twist on crispy chicken – it’s not fried, but it is coated. With cornflakes! Perfect Sunday night eating when we combine it with garlic mashed, green beans and a simple salad with a dressing that’s a take on Ranch. We’re having a Mardi Gras inspired dessert – New Orleans Praline Brownies. Hopefully we’ll have a few left to go with our actual Mardi Gras meal on Tuesday.

Yep. Lent is here. And fish is on the menu. The “oven fried fish” isn’t fried either – but it is also crispy. We’re opting for Potato Leek soup on Friday instead of Long John Silvers. Maybe we’ll get there, but it isn’t sounding too good yet.
