Do you know what makes a party a PARTY!? Yep. A signature drink. I really like drinks that can be made in advance, pitcher style, so you don’t have to be a slave to the cocktail counter. No Squeeze Cranberry Margaritas are super simple, plus you can make them hours ahead of time.

I adore tequila.

I was raised on beer, which was basically the family drink, if you will. The first time I had tequila was in college, when we were stranded by snow on a ski trip. (It was a really good trip.) A couple shots of the stuff later and I was a convert. I’m not as apt to lick salt and throw back a shot of tequila as I was in the old days, but I still like it in it’s simplest form.

Plus it’s good for you!

4 Reasons You Should Drink a Shot of Tequila Every Day:

1. It’s a Low-Calorie Alcohol

2. It May Lower Cholesterol

3. It Helps Digestion

4. It’s Gluten-Free

The Daily Meal

Maybe we should replace that daily coffee…

NO SQUEEZE Cranberry Margaritas secret ingredient:

Limeade. It’s in the freezer section next to the lemonade and frozen concentrated OJ.

Get yourself a pretty pitcher like one of these (affiliate links follow – see disclaimer for full details):

And dump the thawed limeade in. Add a limeade can full of tequila and three limeade cans of cranberry juice, and it’s all ready except for the garnish.

Add a sliced lime and a handful of real cranberries for garnish. Don’t put the ice in the pitcher – put it in the glasses as they are served.

Prep the glasses: rim the glass with a wedge of lime and dip it in coarse sugar. I use Sugar in the Raw, but sanding sugar or even regular old white sugar will work in a pinch. Put the sugar on a plate to make it easier to dip. Put the ice cubes in after you prep the glass.

I like rock style glasses but regular martini glasses or margarita glasses work too.

A note about the tequila: The reason so many people get hangovers from tequila is because it’s not 100 percent agave tequila. It should be clear, and it won’t cost $12 a bottle. (Sorry, Jose Cuervo.) But it’s well worth it for the taste alone to get a little bit better bottle. I drink Hornitos. It’s pretty middle of the pack, price-wise, and it’s delish.
