Back to School! End of Summer Picnic

Back to School! I have to admit – the commercial that starts around this time of the year with “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” prominently playing really resonates with me.

I adore having the boysies around all summer. But by now I’m looking forward to a little more structure in our daily life. And maybe the place will stay cleaned up for ten minutes.

Back to School!

Just saying it makes me grin.

We always celebrate in my favorite way – food! We’re going to use the Weber Grill (Affiliate Link) one more time. Smith’s Provisions makes awesome ham, and it isn’t just for Christmas anymore. We cut the ham into sandwich size pieces and grill it until it is crispy and tender. So good!

We’re celebrating the end of summer and Back to School with a very summery meal that is also a little different from the normal hamburgers and hot dogs we enjoy so much at this time of the year. Although we have a special Labor Day Menu posted, this would make a nice meal for Labor Day as well.

Everything except the ham can be made in advance. Our signature “Spicy Ketchup” is Heinz Ketchup liberally doused with Tabasco. It’s great with French Fries too.
