Weekly Menu 07.22.18

It’s grilling season, so we are still taking full advantage of that, and it shows on the menu. Everything can be made in the oven though, if the weather doesn’t cooperate. We are using the crockpot to keep the kitchen cool and let everybody feed themselves on Tuesday to cover golf league and lacrosse.

Sunday night dinner is a souped up burger meal including an appetizer and dessert. Yippee! No one is working that night.

I like to incorporate pork chops into our weekly menu because they are very cost effective. We love them grilled with just salt and pepper, but this week we are having a sheet pan dinner with chops, sweet potatoes and green apples. It gets pulled all together with cinnamon salt – the potatoes and apples will add a little sweetness, and the pork will shine.

I can’t make pork chops without hearing Peter Brady channeling Humphrey Bogart saying “Pork chops and applesauce”. Am I alone? Dating myself perhaps?
